WARM UP
Samba is from Brazil, and the official language of Brazil is Portuguese.
Let's warm up with SOCO, BATE, VIRA
The literal translation is
SOCO - Punch
BATE - Beat
VIRA - Twist
But we will use these to help us
SOCO - Bump
BATE - Clap
VIRA - Cross arms (& tap shoulders)
See the picture

The pattern goes like this
SOCO SOCO - BATE BATE
SOCO SOCO - VIRA VIRA SOCO BATE - SOCO VIRA SOCO BATE VIRA
The TEMPO starts off slowly, and gets fast.
Don't forget - Practise makes progress
HAVE FUN!
CLAP and STAMP this Samba rhythm

PLAY WITH INSTRUMENTS
You can use wooden spoon handles for claves, and an old Tupperware for the drum.
The rhythm is the same, but instead of the stamp there is a rest.
SINGLE PLAYER - Play the whole rhythm yourself.

PLAY ALONG with the SAMBA BACKING TRACK
COMPOSE moves to go with the RIO JANEIRO mix.
Start by using my example, and then make your own pattern of 4 different movements so fit with the music. Wait to start after the intro.
Pat - Pat - Pat - Pat
Clap - Clap - Clap - Clap
Chest - Chest - Chest - Chest

When the music changes to a different pattern, choose to do some other dance move or freestyle.
