The Ancient Greeks believed in many different gods and goddesses.
Some of the gods were associated with weather or nature – for example, Zeus was a sky god responsible for thunder and lightning. Different gods also had responsibility for different aspects of human life, such as justice or chaos.
One of the ways that people today know about the Greek gods is through the drawings or sculptures that have survived since Ancient Greek times. Each god or goddess is usually recognisable because they carry their own symbol or special object.
