SISTER ROSETTA THARPE – 1915 – 1973
'The woman who invented Rock n' Roll' Was a Gospel singer, songwriter, guitarist and recording artist.
Popular in the 1930’s and 40’s. She pioneered a way of playing the guitar that would eventually turn into Rock n’Roll, influencing Elvis, Little Richard, Chuck Berry etc.
Watch Sister Rosetta sing and play the guitar. Clap, tap and dance along.
Chuck Berry really liked Sister Rosetta's music and copied the style.
