Red Class Week 4- Oliver's Vegetables

Welcome back Red Class to a new week of learning! This week we are looking at vegetables. This is one of my favourite books, it is written by the wonderful Vivian French who came to visit our school last term. Watch this you tube story about Oliver.

I hope that you enjoyed the story. Can you remember what days Oliver found the different vegetables? For your writing task this week write a list of the vegetables he found during the week. This will help you to remember the days of the week too!

On Monday he found....

On Tuesday he found....

On Wednesday he found....

On Thursday he found....

On Friday he found....

On Saturday he found....

On Sunday he found....

REMEMBER to use FINGER SPACES between your words!

Writing Challenge - Write a sentence or two about your favourite vegetable and what you like to eat it with. For example, my favourite vegetable is spinach and I like to eat it raw as salad leaves. Maybe you like to eat your vegetable in a soup or mashed.

Look at the picture of Grandad's vegetable patch.

What do you notice about the vegetable garden? Can you see that the vegetables are growing in rows? Draw a picture of your own vegetable garden. What vegetables would you grow? Label your vegetables. Remember to use your sounds to help you write the words.

Sing along to this vegetable song!

Why not write a shopping list for your family. Ask your grown ups what vegetables they want to buy and write these down. Happy Writing Red Class! Olive.
