Tar Heel Gameplay lets you to add pauses to your child’s favourite Youtube videos.
For children with communication needs, you could use this to practise ‘more’ and ‘finished’. The screenshot below shows an example of what this would look like in the editor. The words will come up on the screen and the child has to choose to get the video to carry on. You can get them to show you the sign, or use the word (ask them, "more or finished?") before pressing the button.
If you don’t know (or can’t remember) the Makaton signs for more and finished there are videos online. E.g.:
If your child has physical needs and uses a switch at home, you can just add a pause so they have to practise pressing the switch to move it on.
